Former Denver Broncos Super Bowl Champion, Pro Bowl Star Announces Retirement
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

A former Denver Broncos player on the Super Bowl 50 team is officially calling it quits on his career. They have yet to decide if they will shave a ceremony to sign a one-year contract with the Broncos before heading to retirement.

Chris Harris Jr. is retiring

Chris Harris Jr. told the Denver Gazette he was retiring following this year’s draft. Harris last played for the New Orleans Saints in 2022. He didn’t get an offer last season and had no new offers since free agency started in March. He decided it was best to leave the game to the younger folks:

“I just waited a year and I stayed in shape, but I realized that everybody was pretty much moving on with the younger players, the younger wave,” Harris, 34, told The Denver Gazette about his recent decision. “So I thought it would be great to just call it an end.”

Harris started in 121 games for the Denver Broncos

The Broncos signed Harris as an undrafted free agent following the 2011 NFL Draft. He played with the team through the 2019 season before having stints with the Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints. He earned All-Pro honors three times and made four Pro Bowl appearances.

Harris started in 145 games in his career, 121 of which were with the Broncos.
