Kawhi Leonard’s status for Game 5 revealed

Kawhi Leonard’s status for Game 5 of his Los Angeles Clippers’ Western Conference first round playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks has been revealed.

Leonard did not participate in the Clippers’ practice on Tuesday. That led head coach Ty Lue to tell reporters that Leonard would not be playing in Wednesday’s Game 5.

Leonard also missed Game 1 and Game 4 of the series due to his right knee injury.

Leonard has been dealing with inflammation in his knee and missed over three weeks of action. His last regular-season game was on March 31, and then he didn’t play again until April 23. Though he played 35 minutes in Game 2, Leonard only played 25 minutes in Game 3 as he was limited by his knee.

The Clippers were able to win Game 4 in Dallas even without Leonard. The team will need to continue to get big games from James Harden and Paul George in order to have success without Leonard available.
